REST STOPS LOCCHINI
Two new rest stops along the transfer route from Azerbaijan to Turkey serve as service stations and supply infrastructure for the surrounding area, featuring exhibitions about the local culture.
Project:
Rest Stops Locchini
Year:
2011 – 2012
Location:
Locchini, Georgia
The Lochini rest stop is located near Tbilisi Airport and was completed in 2012. Two buildings serve as gas stations, one building houses the convenient store, and four outdoor pavilions host local farmers’ markets, arts, and crafts shops, and covered seating areas. These buildings act like puzzle pieces that potentially interlock into a larger entity. Displaced around the site the new rest stop creates a set of structures, that relate to each other, and allow for space of movement, services, and relaxation between them.
