Strukturalien is a joint installation to J.MAYER.Hs solo show at Haus am Waldsee
The exhibition ‘Strukturalien: Architecture as Urban Sculpture’ explored the works of J.Mayer.H from the beginning to the present day. Alongside Jürgen Mayer H.’s early, speculative projects and material studies, the majority of the displays present built projects. Sketches and models provided evidence for the intellectual foundation of his design practice. A video installation projecting animated wire frame models, explored the development and translation of J.Mayer.H’s spatial structures into viable sculptures and architecture. Photographs of his buildings reflected the spectacular implementation of J.Mayer.H’s spatial research, providing a contemporary commentary on the limits of how reality can be represented by architecture.
J.Mayer.H’s background and his wide range of architecture building activities were extensively presented in this exhibition in Berlin for the first time. Focusing on realized projects, the show submitted a multi-faceted approach to architecture that is explicitly interested in innovative structural and sculptural solutions.
