In the automobile industry, newly developed prototypes are disguised with adhesive films and plastic parts during on-the-road test drives to prevent premature press exposure or competitor espionage.
The covering of cars with data protection patterns by J.MAYER.H regenerated from the insides of envelopes, draws a reference to this common practice in automobile development. Material printed with data protection patterns are designed to protect sensitive information from the curious third parties. In this way the car’s counters and details are unrecognizable; it appears ghost-like, or even like a phantom car.
