A layer of satellite dishes covers the old city of Marrakesh as a communication crust, a window to the digital world and social media so crucial in today’s dynamic world. Satellight is a dysfunctional satellite dish made with with Arabic numbers to form a data protection pattern in handcrafted perforated metal. Oversized and displaced it echoes a complex relationship involving Arabic numbers, data protection patterns, Islamic geometries, the numerics of contemporary communication, and social interactivity.
